Robert - Conveyancing, Family, Wills & Probate
Robert Downie became the Senior Partner of Bathurst Brown & Downie LLP in 2000 and specialises in Residential and Commercial Conveyancing. He also deals with Family as well as Wills and Probate. Robert's hobby is rowing and rowed for Great Britain in 1978 and 1980 when he was in the GB Lightweight Men's Eight which won the World Championships. He now applies the dedication that he employed when rowing to his legal career.
John - Employment
John Thicknes is an
employment lawyer who advises on all employment-related issues
including; tribunal proceedings, employment contracts and policies,
discipline and grievance, poor performance and sickness absence. John
qualified in 2003
and has previously worked for a large national firm in the Thames Valley
area. John is also a dedicated rower and was a coach for the Cambridge University Lightweight Rowing Club for several years, before returning the world of law.
Jana Downie is Bathurst Brown & Downie LLP’s Office Manager and deals with marketing, office management, and accounts at our law firm. Jana is a firm believer in strict organisation and keeps everyone on their toes. A former Junior International for Slovakia she has more recently joined the ranks of the rowers and often enjoys sculling on the river at Putney.
Irynali - Immigration
Mr Ali received his LL.B (Law Degree) from Kingston University, London and completed his Post-Graduate Diploma in LPC (Legal Practice Course) & LLM (Mater Degree) at London Metropolitan University. An Associate member of the prestigious Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) - UK. Mr Ali is a PhD researcher in EU investor – state dispute settlement and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
He has over 10 years of experience in Immigration, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Residential Conveyancing areas of law and is passionate about issues of justice, morals and ethics.
Besides English, he also speaks fluent Kurdish, Arabic and a smattering of Turkish. Mr Ali enjoys travelling, reading for pleasure, meeting new people and watching animal/nature documentaries.
Sonya - Conveyancing
Sonya Cardwell possesses a law degree and is a graduate of the Institute of Legal Executives and has travelled extensively, particularly in Asia.
Sonya deals with a range of residential property matters including lease extensions, wills, probates and LPAs. Sonya was also the staff representative during the merger process of two major charities. She constantly endeavours to explain the process to all our clients and keep clients updated throughout each process.
